Kalighat is a red-light district in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is one of the oldest and largest in the city. The name Kalighat is derived from Kali, the goddess of destruction. The area around the temple is also a crowded market for flowers, birds and other offerings for worship at the Kali temple. Women solicit customers for sex near the temple complex.
